Tooling Engineer

Full time

About the Role:

The Tooling Engineer is responsible for the overall maintenance and recordkeeping of all tools (molds), including identifying issues and recommending how to resolve them, coordinating daily activities related to tooling and supervising the Mold Technicians.  They work closely with the production and senior management team to ensure smooth and continuous operations.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the activities of Mold Technicians in support of safety, quality and productivity.
  • Work with Customers and Sales to develop new products and/or projects.
  • Establish new tooling requirements and initiate requisitions.
  • Test new molds and implement changes or alterations as required.
  • Initiate work orders for mold repairs or alterations.
  • Work with Quality, Maintenance and Shift Supervisors to diagnose and correct manufacturing problems on molds, material, machines, etc.
  • Participate in reviews of mold designs.
  • Assist in training of Mold Technician personnel.
  • Assure that all the necessary records, data and reports are maintained.
  • Special projects as assigned.

Mold Technician – 1st and 3rd Shift

Full time

SUMMARY:  The Mold Technician is responsible for ensuring the day-to-day functionality of production machinery by monitoring machine operations, troubleshooting problems, performing minor repairs on production and auxiliary equipment, such as grinders, etc., ensuring proper documentation of work orders and communicating to Shift Supervisor and Maintenance staff on any issues with equipment.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: 

  • Monitor molding machines and auxiliary equipment to ensure operating properly.
  • Troubleshoot problems by diagnosing cause, making minor repairs, and cleaning mold and/or platens as necessary to prevent quality issues.
  • Adjust controls and/or machine settings as required to maintain optimum operation and quality of parts.
  • Perform machine start up and shut down as needed to meet production schedule.
  • Perform preventative maintenance activities as scheduled or required.
  • Use correct measures to return machines and equipment to their manufacturing operational condition within a reasonable amount of time, including being able to troubleshoot and repair from OEM schematics.
  • Oversee, follow and enforce all safety practices and quality standards.
  • Prepare and submit work orders for the Maintenance Department to address more major issues or problems.
  • Interact daily with Shift Supervisor, Cell Leaders and Packers to stay informed of any operational concerns and production needs.
  • Act as backup to Shift Supervisor when necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.
